Manchester to York
The morning news was a red alert weather warning of 35degC or more and to avoid travel. Also many trains were being cancelled or having their schedules lengthened as they may have to go slower while watching for buckling rails etc.
I had breakfast and went straight to Manchester Piccadilly to get the first possible train to York. Just missed the 09:00 so next was 10:00 a three-coach train on platform 1. This arrived and we were let onto the platform. Later another three-coach train came onto the same plarform. Soon it's doors opened and as we all embarked we were informed this was not the 10:00; that was now to be on platform 4.
The temperature onboard was pleasant and air-conditioning working so a good journey to York, scoring 50%. Transpennine's average for the 4 journeys is now 43%.
I awarded myself a refreshing pint in The York Tap, a pub on platform 3.
