Manchester to Cleethorpes, return
Quite a lengthy journey, over 2 1/2hrs each way and the train was quite crowded as far as Grimsby where most passengers disembarked.
Just four or five of us went as far as Cleethorpes where I had a very welcome and remarkably cheap pint in the station bar before returning on the same train. It was a hot and sticky day, too much for the air-conditioning which had little effect.
The return journey scored twice that of the outward journey mainly because there was nobody in the seat opposite me so I could stretch my legs out and also the air-conditioning had greater effect as it was far less crowded. Average score for these 2 Transpennine trains 26% which brings the score for all three trains to date to 41%.
The maximum speed of today's trains was 95mph.
